With 4 engraved frontispieces, 24 partly folded copper engravings (one printed on both sides), 3 full-page text engravings, a double-sided woodcut plate, and woodcut text illustrations. Contemporary leather bindings (spines partially worn, scuffed, and bumped). Reference: ZDB 552526-3. Hayn/Gotendorf IV, 430: "An important encyclopedia addressing contemporary issues of the time." Details on the total number of copper engravings and other illustrations published with this work were not found. Includes illustrations on human and animal deformities, sea monsters, the construction of an air machine, agricultural tools, lamps and stoves, religious martyrdoms, spiders, garden and city planning, and a woodcut of a rattlesnake believed to possess magical powers.

This is a quarto edition consisting of [8]-102-[9-1 blank]-123-[1 blank]-208-[12]-347-[1 blank]-24-[31] pages, with the usual toning and spotting. It is a new, augmented edition by P. Scriverius (1576-1660) of the major annotated edition by the Dutch humanist Stewechius (1557-1588), focusing on the primary classical sources for the Roman Army. The book with 47 large woodcuts showing Roman machinery and tactics. The book also includes notes by the Bruges humanist Fr. Modius (1566-1597). It features 47 large woodcuts depicting Roman machinery and tactics, numerous woodcut illustrations of coins, diagrams, and smaller illustrations. Johan had managed to get 10 minutes with Willem Dafoe in a hotel room when Willem was in Stockholm in 2012 to receive a film award from the Stockholm Film Festival.Johan immediately took this portrait by the window, then explained to him that since he has such a familiar face, it would be fun to photograph him when he is not visible. Dafoe thought this was a fun idea and suddenly Dafoe was all over the room. Johan Bergmark, born in 1969 in Kärrtorp, Stockholm, found his passion for photography by chance after originally pursuing music due to being tone-deaf. Specializing in black-and-white photography with both film and digital formats, he values spontaneity and the unexpected in his work. Affiliated with Bildhuset photography agency, Johan has received acclaim as a rock‘n’roll photographer, winning the Nordic Region’s Best Rock Photographer award twice.
