7311 Magnus von Wright (1805–1868) – Common Murre – Hand-coloured lithograph (c. 1880)

This hand-coloured lithograph is an ornithological illustration of a common murre (uria troille). The bird is depicted perched on a rock by the water. This work, along with many others, was part of a larger project to document Nordic fauna. Though the illustration was created by Magnus von Wright during his lifetime, it was published posthumously in a series of prints.
Magnus von Wright was a Finnish painter and illustrator. He was one of the three artist brothers known for their detailed and highly regarded illustrations of Finnish nature, particularly birds. His work is considered a key reference in Nordic ornithology.
