Set of 2 hand-coloured engravings. The prints originate from "British Entomology" written by John Curtis. It is subtitled "Being Illustrations and Descriptions of the Genera of Insects found in Great Britain and Ireland: Containing Coloured Figures from Nature of the Most Rare and Beautiful Species, and in Many Instances of the Plants Upon Which They are Found."
John Curtis (1791–1862) was a British entomologist and illustrator, renowned for his significant contributions to the study of British insects. He is best known for his monumental work, British Entomology (1824–1839), a comprehensive guide to the insects of the British Isles, featuring meticulously detailed illustrations.
