6695 Frederick de Wit (1629–1706) – Two Stags – Copperplate Engraving (ca. 1650)

This copperplate engraving by Frederick de Wit features two stags depicted in separate panels, each in a distinct posture. The upper panel shows a healthy and alert specimen, while the lower presents an emaciated stag with richly detailed antlers and coat. The juxtaposition may reflect seasonal change, symbolic contrast, or anatomical study. The engraving demonstrates de Wit's characteristic precision and balance in zoological composition.
