This detailed engraved map, titled "FORI IVLII ACCVRATA DESCRIPTIO. O. FORCVLIANO AVCTORE. MDLXXI.", was compiled by Abraham Ortelius based on the work of Onofrio Furlanich. Published in 1573, it appeared in the 1573 Additamentum I to Ortelius's groundbreaking "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum" (Theatre of the World). The map provides an intricate representation of the historical region of Friuli (now part of Italy and Slovenia), detailing its rivers, mountains, and numerous towns and settlements. It also shows bordering regions like Carniola. The map itself is dated 1571. Its precise engraving reflects the advanced cartographic knowledge and artistic detail of the 16th century.
