This original 1756 copperplate engraving presents a detailed map of Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, Lusatia, and adjacent areas of Saxony and Brandenburg, highlighting the central theater of war during the early stages of the Seven Years’ War. Issued in The Gentleman’s Magazine under the direction of Edward Cave (editor and founder, writing as Sylvanus Urban), the map includes a supplemental battle plan showing the site of the Prussian victory over Austrian forces at Lobositz on October 1, 1756.
