This set of four scientifically precise copperplate engravings presents mushrooms from the genera Volvaria, Pluteus, Entoloma, Leptonia, and Eccilia. Each plate features carefully labelled anatomical views, colour morphs, and spore structures to aid in visual identification. Among the illustrated species are Volvaria speciosa, Pluteus cervinus, Entoloma sinuatum, Eccilia vitis, and others, rendered with sharp line work and delicately hand-applied colour. The arrangements reflect the conventions of early taxonomic documentation, combining clarity of form with compositional elegance.

Carl Gustav Jablonsky (1756–1787) was a Prussian naturalist and illustrator who served as private secretary to Queen Elisabeth Christine of Prussia. Though his life was brief, he contributed significantly to the development of scientific illustration in the spirit of Linnaean taxonomy. His works remain foundational in the visual history of natural science and are sought after for their precision, rarity, and historical importance.
