This striking set of six antique botanical prints by Carl Axel Magnus Lindman captures the graceful forms of Nordic grasses and a fruit-bearing shrub through precise chromolithographic technique. The selection includes Briza media (Windgrass), Glyceria fluitans (Fool’s Watergrass), Glyceria aquatica (Water Sweetgrass), Poa alpina (Alpine Bluegrass), Poa palustris (Marsh Bluegrass), and Ribes nigrum (Blackcurrant). These species, found in moist meadows, highlands, and forest edges, are depicted with characteristic delicacy and scientific accuracy.
Part of Lindman’s renowned botanical opus Nordens Flora, these prints illustrate the diversity and ecological richness of Scandinavian plant life. Carl Lindman (1856–1928), a Swedish botanist and professor at the Swedish Museum of Natural History, was known for combining taxonomic clarity with elegant design. His work remains a touchstone of early 20th-century botanical illustration.
