The interior regions are marked with ethnographic labels like “Zahra or Desert of Barbary,” “Bambouk,” and “Mandinga.” This chart was engraved for Malham’s Naval Gazetteer and published in London in 1795 by Allen & William Faden, Geographer to the King.
