79 Louis-Nicolas Van Blarenberghe (1716–1794) – Set of 2 Architectural Elevations – Engravings (1773)

This set of two architectural engravings features longitudinal and cross-sectional views of a monumental classical building, presented as part of an architectural study. The plates are labeled Pl. 26 and Pl. 27 and are titled in French with detailed references to elevations from the garden and courtyard sides, as well as structural cuts of major sections. These works were published in 1773 and reflect the neoclassical design language prominent in late 18th-century French architecture, with precise line work and elegant hand-colouring. The signature "L. N. Vle. delin" confirms the attribution to Louis-Nicolas Van Blarenberghe, a noted architectural draftsman of the period.
Louis-Nicolas Van Blarenberghe (1716–1794) was a French painter and draftsman of Flemish origin, widely respected for his architectural renderings, miniature paintings, and military scenes. He was appointed official painter to the French king and worked extensively on documenting royal projects and historical events. His meticulous architectural drawings, often turned into engravings, served both aesthetic and didactic purposes during the Age of Enlightenment.
