32 George Anson (1697–1762) – Map of the East End of the Island of Quibo – Engraved Map (1748)

George Anson (1697–1762) was a British admiral and notable circumnavigator. His voyage around the world (1740–1744) during the War of Jenkins' Ear was both an act of naval warfare and exploration, targeting Spanish possessions in the Pacific. Anson’s expedition brought back crucial geographical information and was instrumental in enhancing British knowledge of Pacific routes. His published account became a bestseller and had lasting influence on both naval strategy and cartography.
