This aquatint engraving titled Fleuve de Kemi presents a sweeping view of the Kemi River in northern Finland as it flows through a rugged and forested landscape. The composition includes rocky shores, scattered wooden houses, and figures paddling in a canoe in the foreground, while dramatic cloud formations dominate the sky. The engraving captures the wild and remote character of Lapland’s river scenery and was published as part of Voyage pittoresque au Cap Nord in 1802.
