This finely detailed engraving, titled Nördliche Himmelskugel, was created by the German cartographer and publisher Joseph Meyer in 1850. The celestial map illustrates the constellations of the Northern Hemisphere with exceptional precision, capturing mythological figures, star formations, and astronomical symbols as they appear in the night sky. Meyer's engraving is part of his renowned Meyer's Grosser Zeitungs-Atlas, a series that combined geographic and astronomical knowledge into highly detailed plates. His commitment to educational publishing and scientific accuracy positioned him as a leading figure in 19th-century cartography. This work was published in Hildburghausen, Germany, 1850.

Joseph Meyer (1796–1856) was a German publisher and entrepreneur. He founded the Bibliographisches Institut in 1826, which became famous for its high-quality encyclopedias and illustrated books.
