This set of two vivid chromolithographic plates comes from Adalbert Seitz’s renowned entomological series Die Gross-Schmetterlinge der Erde (The Macrolepidoptera of the World), published between 1909 and 1915.
The illustrations depict an extensive range of moths and butterflies from the genera Alphaea, Arctia, and Nyctemera, meticulously rendered in both male and female forms. Each specimen is labeled with its scientific name, forming a rich taxonomic record of Palearctic Lepidoptera.
Adalbert Seitz (1860–1938) was a renowned German entomologist and lepidopterist.
