Ulrik Thersner (1779–1828) was a Swedish military officer and artist best known for initiating the Fordna och närvarande Sverige project. He began his military career during Gustav III’s Russian War and later advanced through the ranks to become a major in the Surveying Brigade. Thersner conducted hydrographic and cartographic surveys and produced a significant body of visual documentation that preserved Sweden’s topography and heritage for future generations.
