Ulrik Thersner (1779–1828) was a Swedish military officer and topographical artist best known for initiating the Fordna och närvarande Sverige project. He began his naval career as a child during the reign of Gustav III and rose through the ranks of the military, later becoming a lieutenant in the Surveying Corps and eventually a major in 1814. Thersner’s artistic and scientific contributions through hydrographic surveys and landscape documentation helped shape the national image of Sweden during the 19th century.
