"A Map of Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, Lussatia with great part of Saxony and Brandenburg"

This antique copperplate map shows Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, Lusatia, and large parts of Saxony and Brandenburg, with towns, rivers, and regional borders carefully delineated. The title frame indicates that the map was made to illustrate the present seat of war in Germany. At the bottom, there is a smaller inset map depicting the Battle of Lobositz (October 1, 1756), the opening engagement of the Third Silesian War and the larger Seven Years' War, highlighting key locations in Northern Bohemia such as Lovosice, Litomerice, Teplice, and Usti nad Labem. The map was published in December 1756 in the Gentleman's Magazine, a prominent London periodical of the time.

Thomas Bowen (1733–1790) was a British cartographer and engraver, the son of the renowned Emanuel Bowen. He contributed to numerous publications and atlases in the mid-to-late 18th century, including many maps for the Gentleman's Magazine. His early work is noted for its clarity and accuracy in geographical depiction.
