26 Peter Schenk the Elder (1660–1713) – Map of the Electoral Saxon Districts of Annaburg, Pretzsch, Torgau, Schweinitz and Mühlberg – Large Hand-Colored Copperplate Engraving (c.1700–1713)

"Accurate Geographische Delineation derer Chursächischen Ämmter Annaburg, Pretzsch, Torgau, Schweinitz und Mühlberg"
This large and richly detailed map depicts the administrative districts (Ämter) of Annaburg, Pretzsch, Torgau, Schweinitz, and Mühlberg in the Electorate of Saxony. It features meticulously labeled towns, churches, castles, and estates, with hand-colored divisions for each region. Extensive indexes of settlements line both sides of the map, while a legend at the bottom provides explanatory symbols. A compass rose adds navigational context, and the overall style reflects the precision and elegance of early 18th-century Dutch cartography.
Peter Schenk the Elder was a prominent German-Dutch engraver and publisher based in Amsterdam. He was known for his detailed city views and maps, often working alongside Gerard Valck. His publications helped document the political and military geography of late 17th and early 18th-century Europe. The map was printed in Amsterdam shortly after the 1695 bombardment.
