27 Alain Manesson Mallet (1630–1706) – Miniature Map of France / France – Hand-Colored Engraving (1683)

"France"
This elegant miniature map of France was published in 1683 as part of Description de l’Univers, Alain Manesson Mallet’s celebrated geographical and cosmographic atlas. It shows the historical regions of France — including Bretagne, Normandie, Languedoc, Bourgogne, and Provence — as well as the surrounding territories of England (Angleterre), the Low Countries, and Spain. Decorative elements include a finely rendered cartouche and a hand-colored border, typical of Mallet’s engraved works. The title appears at the top of the page as Du Globe Terrestre, Figure LXXII, indicating its place within the atlas.
