North America

This large and detailed 19th-century map was engraved by George Heriot Swanston and published by A. Fullarton & Co. around 1862 in Edinburgh, London, and Dublin. It provides a comprehensive geographical overview of the North American continent, with clear demarcations of U.S. states, Canadian provinces, and Mexican territories. The map notably highlights the western frontier, including the Gold Regions of California and territories newly acquired or organized during westward expansion. It also includes extensive place names, mountain ranges, and river systems across Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Central America.
