This elegant charcoal drawing is an original work by Henri Matisse (1869–1954), created in 1944 during his late period, produced later, possibly in the 1950s or 1960s.

Henri Matisse (1869–1954) was a French artist known for his bold use of color and pioneering role in Fauvism. Initially trained in law, he turned to painting and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Gustave Moreau. His works, such as The Joy of Life (1905–1906) and The Red Studio (1911), showcased his mastery of expressive color and innovative composition. In his later years, he created the famous paper cut-outs, culminating in works like Blue Nude II (1952), and his artistic legacy remains a cornerstone of modern art.
