This original lithographic cover was published by Maeght Éditeur in Paris in 1979 for issue No. 240 of Derrière Le Miroir, entirely devoted to Edward Kienholz. The composition, printed on thick wove paper, features a juxtaposition of speaker components and reflective planes in tones of black, yellow, and metallic gray. This visual motif mirrors Kienholz's interest in media, communication systems, and objecthood—central concerns of his assemblage practice. His engagement with themes of surveillance, technology, and institutional control is abstracted here into a striking modernist graphic.

Edward Kienholz (1927–1994) was a leading figure in American installation art and assemblage. He first gained critical attention in the 1960s for provocative works addressing race, poverty, war, and American consumer culture. His work is housed in major institutions including MoMA, LACMA, and the Stedelijk Museum. Kienholz collaborated with his wife, Nancy Reddin Kienholz, from the 1970s onward, developing a rich visual language of social critique through immersive environments.
