This finely detailed antique map, engraved by Thomas Kitchin in 1780, presents the northern regions of Upper Saxony, encompassing parts of Pommerania, Germany, and Poland. Titled “A New Map of the Northern Part of Upper Saxony Drawn from the Best Authorities,” it illustrates key 18th-century territorial divisions, cities, and rivers, with the Baltic Sea forming the northern boundary. The map includes regions such as Swedish Pomerania, Brandenburg, and parts of Silesia and Greater Poland, offering a valuable snapshot of Central European geography during a period of shifting political landscapes.

Thomas Kitchin (1718–1784) was a prominent British cartographer and engraver, known for his prolific output of maps and atlases in the mid- to late-18th century. He served as Hydrographer to the King and collaborated with leading publishers of his time, including Thomas Jefferys and Robert Sayer.
