4585 Gabriel Bodenehr (1673–1765) – Königlicher Palast in Stockholm – Copperplate Engraving (c.1720)

This architectural engraving by Gabriel Bodenehr depicts the Royal Palace in Stockholm, shown from the waterfront with sailing vessels and masts in the foreground. The composition centers on the austere symmetry of the early Baroque palace façade, framed by two rounded towers. The scene captures both the maritime activity of Stockholm and the monumental presence of royal architecture.
Gabriel Bodenehr was an accomplished engraver and publisher from Augsburg, part of a dynasty known for topographical works. His finely etched cityscapes served both as documentation and as expressions of civic and monarchical grandeur in early 18th-century Europe.
