This hand-coloured map titled Germaniae Austriacae Tabula Generalis presents a detailed overview of the Austrian dominions within the Holy Roman Empire at the beginning of the 18th century. The territories depicted include Austria, Styria, Carinthia, Carniola, Tyrol, Bohemia, Moravia, and adjacent regions. Political boundaries are highlighted in distinct colour outlines. The upper left corner features an elaborate cartouche with allegorical figures and imperial symbols, underscoring the Habsburgs’ imperial authority.

Christoph Weigel (1654–1725) was a German engraver and publisher active in Nuremberg, renowned for his decorative and precise copperplate maps. This particular engraving was printed by Johann Ernst Adelbulner in 1718. Weigel’s cartographic works combine baroque artistry with Enlightenment-era geography and were widely disseminated throughout Central Europe as tools for administration, education, and political reference.
