This historical map titled Fines Hungariae victoriis Caroli VI. Caes. Aug. et pace Pasarovicensis ampliatos in hac tabula color flavus indicat depicts the territories of Hungary following their expansion under Emperor Charles VI, particularly after the Treaty of Passarowitz (1718). Areas gained through military victories are highlighted in yellow. The engraving features a title cartouche and an inset map in the upper right, illustrating the region surrounding the city of Morava in northern Bulgaria (Residuum Serviae). The map is marked with clear administrative borders and hundreds of place names across Hungary, Transylvania, and the adjacent Balkans.
Christoph Weigel (1654–1725) was a German engraver, publisher, and mapmaker based in Nuremberg. He is best known for his detailed copperplate engravings covering a range of subjects including heraldry, fortifications, religious iconography, and topography. His maps, often hand-coloured and richly annotated, combined cartographic precision with Baroque aesthetics and were widely circulated in early 18th-century Central Europe.
