This scientific engraving labeled Shells Tab. II depicts a wide variety of mollusk shells and related marine specimens, including Murex, Dolium, Porcellana, Chama, Mytulus (Mussle), Ostrea (Oyster), and Pinna Marina. The plate includes detailed renderings of complex structures such as Periwinkle Fish, Porcupine Fish, and Porcellain Shell. Each specimen is identified with both Latin and vernacular names and positioned to highlight its form and texture. The plate is signed "I. Taylor sculp." in the lower right.

Isaac Taylor (1730–1807) was a British engraver and illustrator known for his extensive contributions to educational and encyclopedic publishing. His engravings for scientific works offered clarity and visual order, making natural history accessible to a broader audience. As part of Enlightenment-era educational reform, his works reflected the values of classification, empirical observation, and beauty in structure.
