170 Unknown – Interior Staircase with Palm – Charcoal Drawing (1903)

This evocative architectural sketch, dated Okt. 03 and inscribed with what appears to be “Öhringen,” depicts a quiet stairwell corner bathed in soft light. The drawing is executed in charcoal and graphite on toned paper, which has aged with evident foxing and edge wear. A winding staircase with a wooden banister curves to the lower right, while a tall potted palm adds life to the corner beside hanging framed artworks and a modest pendant lamp suspended from the ceiling by a cord.
The careful attention to light, shadow, and perspective, along with the handwritten date and location, suggests the work may have been done as part of an architectural study or personal sketchbook entry from early 20th-century Germany.
