161 Alberto Giacometti (1901–1966) – Derrière Le Miroir No. 127 – Illustrated Art Booklet (1961)

This original 1961 issue of Derrière Le Miroir (No. 127) is dedicated entirely to the work of Alberto Giacometti and was published on the occasion of his exhibition at Galerie Maeght in Paris. The booklet contains multiple original lithographs and reproductions of his paintings, drawings, and sculptures, including both figures and still lifes. The cover features a hauntingly sparse image of a table with a sphere, rendered in Giacometti’s iconic linear style that evokes space, isolation, and existential weight.
Alberto Giacometti (1901–1966) was a Swiss sculptor, painter, and draftsman. He is celebrated for his elongated, fragile human figures and psychologically charged graphic works. A key figure in postwar existential art, Giacometti’s intense focus on perception, presence, and absence influenced generations of artists and philosophers. His collaborations with Maeght Éditeur resulted in some of the most intimate graphic publications of the 20th century.
