This copper engraving of Lausanne, titled "Lausanne, Ville de la Suisse", was published in the 1714 edition of Les Délices de la Suisse by Kypseler, printed in Leiden by Pierre van der Aa. The detailed bird’s-eye view captures the historic Swiss city in a fortified state, with its major landmarks numerically indexed at the bottom, including the Église de Notre Dame, Église Saint François, the Château, the Collège, the old bishop’s palace, the town hall, and the arsenal. The map is a refined blend of architectural depiction and urban topography, showcasing Lausanne surrounded by cultivated fields, neatly arranged dwellings, and winding streets.

Pierre van der Aa (1659–1733) was a prominent Dutch publisher and bookseller in Leiden, known for his vast output of maps, travel books, and illustrated atlases. His engravings remain highly regarded for their clarity, decorative appeal, and importance in early 18th-century European publishing.
