5 Aristide Perrot (1793–1879) – Map of Devon – Miniature Map from L'Angleterre ou Description Historique et Topographique du Royaume-Uni (c.1823)
Antique miniature map of Devonshire with original outline colour, designed with a decorative allegorical border showing regional symbols such as local fauna, industry, and topographic features. This finely engraved work was created by Aristide Michel Perrot and published in Paris as part of L'Angleterre ou Description Historique et Topographique du Royaume-Uni de la Grand-Bretagne, with cartography by Perrot, engraving by Adrien Migneret (1786–1840), and text by George Bernard Depping.
The work was engraved in 1823 and first published in 1824, with further editions in 1828 and 1835. These maps are known for their elegant presentation, compact format, and richly emblematic vignettes that visually interpret each region.
