147 Joseph Pitton de Tournefort (1656–1708) – Hand-Coloured Engraving – Botanical Study of Pine Cones (Pinus) – From Institutiones rei herbariae (1719)

This work is considered one of Tournefort's most important contributions to botanical science. He developed a systematic classification of plants into genera, which laid the foundation for modern plant taxonomy. His approach heavily influenced Carl Linnaeus, who later named the genus Tournefortia in his honour.
