”La traversée du miroir” Triple-sided color lithograph from the 1963 edition of Derriere Le Miroir #139-140 by Joan Miro, limited edition of 150 copies and published by Maeght Éditeur in Paris. Derrière Le Miroir was a publication that ran from 1946 to 1982, featuring prints by the era’s most celebrated Modernists. Produced by Galerie Maeght in Paris, the publication was dedicated to making art widely accessible at a time when many exiled artists and creative thinkers had just returned to France at the end of World War II. Joan Miró (1893-1983) was a Spanish surrealist artist known for his distinctive style combining elements of abstraction, surrealism, and Catalan folk art. He used vivid colors, playful shapes, and symbols to explore themes of dreams, the subconscious, and the imagination.
