”Johnson's New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island” This is an antique map of the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland. It was published in 1864 by A. J Johnson in New York. This map color coded according to county, shows railways, lakes, rivers and towns. Alvin Jewett Johnson (1827-1884) was an American cartographer and publisher known for producing detailed and visually striking atlases and maps in the mid-19th century. His "Johnson’s New Illustrated Family Atlas," first published in 1860, became one of the most popular and widely distributed atlases of its time, reflecting the expanding geography of the United States. Nice pair of maps of Brazil, from this scarce Dutch work. One map extenss from Catinra and Barre d'Iguape to Lac de Merim and Cap. Se. Marie and is centered on Isle Se. Catherine. The second map extends from S. Paul Santos to San Salvador, and is cetnered on Abrolhos des Rochers. Engraved by A.van Krevelt in 1772. Prepared by Jean Baptiste Bourguignon d'Anville (1697-1782). Par le Sr. Bellin Ingr. de la Marine de la Société Royale de Londres” Detailed and well engraved sea chart of French Guiana and the island of Cayenne, originally published in Paris by Bellin and copied here by Schley.&nbsp; Jakob van der Schley was a skilled draftsman and engraver who operated out of Amsterdam and had&nbsp;strong ties with&nbsp;the Hague. He was trained by Bernard Picart&nbsp;and his style resembles that of the elder man. Van der Schely&nbsp;was known for intricately engraved portraits and frontispieces.
