885 after Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (1606-1669) - Pencil drawing of Lion - 1808
This exquisite pencil drawing, created after the works of Rembrandt, is a stunning example of meticulous craftsmanship and artistic homage. It is featured in the renowned publication "Recueil de lions, dessinés d'après nature par divers maîtres & gravés, ... Divisé en six livres chacun de six feuilles." This book presents a complete set of six series of lion prints, consisting of 30 full-page and 12 half-page engravings on 36 inserted leaves, all masterfully engraved by Bernard Picart (1673–1733). The series includes at least eight engravings from Picart's own life drawings and many others based on the works of various acclaimed artists, including 18 prints after Rembrandt.
