This original hand-coloured copper-plate engraving originates from "Chronological Series of Roman Pontics”, a series of synoptic icons of monarchs, Roman pontiffs, European kings and elected leaders of the Roman Empire. Engraved by Emanuel Eichel and published in Augsburg, 1770.
Tobias Konrad Lotter (1717-1777) was a German engraver, publisher, and cartographer known for his maps and atlases. He operated a successful publishing firm in Augsburg, producing high-quality maps that were esteemed for their accuracy and decorative appeal during the 18th century. Lotter's works often included detailed geographical information and artistic embellishments, contributing significantly to cartography and geographic knowledge of his time.
