This is an antique map of Africa. It was published in 1864 by A. J Johnson in New York. The map covers the entire African continent as well as adjacent parts of Arabia and the Mediterranean. Throughout, Johnson identifies various cities, towns, rivers and assortment of additional topographical details.
Alvin Jewett Johnson (1827-1884) was an American cartographer and publisher known for producing detailed and visually striking atlases and maps in the mid-19th century. His "Johnson’s New Illustrated Family Atlas," first published in 1860, became one of the most popular and widely distributed atlases of its time, reflecting the expanding geography of the United States.
