93 Johan Bergmark - Portrait of Willem Dafoe
Description
Portrait of Willem Dafoe. Signed and numbered on the back JB 13/19. C-print.
Johan had managed to get 10 minutes with Willem Dafoe in a hotel room when Willem was in Stockholm in 2012 to receive a film award from the Stockholm Film Festival.
Johan immediately took this portrait by the window, then explained to him that since he has such a familiar face, it would be fun to photograph him when he is not visible. Dafoe thought this was a fun idea and suddenly Dafoe was all over the room.
Johan Bergmark, born in 1969 in Kärrtorp, Stockholm, found his passion for photography by chance after originally pursuing music due to being tone-deaf. Specializing in black-and-white photography with both film and digital formats, he values spontaneity and the unexpected in his work. Affiliated with Bildhuset photography agency, Johan has received acclaim as a rock‘n’roll photographer, winning the Nordic Region’s Best Rock Photographer award twice. His introspective images provoke questions rather than answers, drawing inspiration from everyday life, music, and literature.
