This original 18th-century copperplate engraving by Jakob van der Schley depicts the architectural layout of the English fort at Sukonda, located on the coast of Guinea near 4°33 latitude. The diagram shows interior features such as living quarters, a powder magazine, and defensive bastions, all labeled in French.

Published in 1748 in a Dutch edition documenting European colonial presence in West Africa, this engraving exemplifies Enlightenment-era interest in military cartography, territorial control, and fortified coastal infrastructure.
