6575 Frederick de Wit (1629–1706) – Two Parrots on Branches – Copperplate Engraving (ca. 1650)

This finely executed copperplate engraving by Frederick de Wit features two parrots perched on separate branches, each rendered with meticulous detail in plumage and posture. Frederick de Wit (1629–1706) was a celebrated Dutch engraver, cartographer, and publisher based in Amsterdam. Though widely known for his atlases and maps, de Wit also produced natural history prints that combined scientific curiosity with visual refinement. His studio was one of the most respected printing houses of the Dutch Golden Age, contributing to both geographical and zoological knowledge.
