Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703–1772) was a highly influential French cartographer, hydrographer, and geographer. He served as the first Ingénieur de la Marine and Royal Hydrographer to the King of France, responsible for producing a vast number of charts and maps that were widely regarded for their accuracy and detail. Bellin's work was instrumental in documenting global coastlines and waterways, contributing significantly to navigation and geographical knowledge during the Age of Enlightenment. His prolific output included atlases like the Petit Atlas Maritime and individual charts that were used by navies and merchant fleets worldwide.
