This detailed copperplate engraving presents a two-panelled view of Italian towns. The upper panel showcases "AQVAPENDENTE" (Acquapendente), depicting the town picturesquely situated on a cliff overlooking a rocky landscape. The lower panel illustrates "TARVITII" (historically identified as Tarquinia, also known as Corneto), offering a panoramic view across a plain with its urban structures. Figures are visible in the foreground of the lower panel, contributing to the scene. The print is credited as being "delineated and engraved by Ludovici Pergij," and reflects the meticulous approach to urban documentation characteristic of its era.

Ludovico Perugini was an artist and engraver active in the late 16th century. Georg Braun was a German topographer and editor, and Frans Hogenberg was a Flemish engraver. Together, they were the principal compilers and publishers of the Civitates Orbis Terrarum (Cities of the World), a monumental six-volume atlas published between 1572 and 1617. This groundbreaking work provided bird's-eye views and city plans of hundreds of major cities across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, serving as an indispensable visual record of urban landscapes during the Renaissance. Their collaboration produced highly influential and aesthetically significant geographical works.
