193 Adalbert Ricken – Set of 2 Plates of Dermocybe Mushrooms - 1915

This two-plate set presents finely detailed illustrations of mushroom species within the genera Inoloma and Dermocybe, subgroups of the family Cortinariaceae. Though Jablonsky is primarily celebrated for his work on insects, these engravings reflect the same Enlightenment spirit of classification, precision, and artistic elegance applied to fungi.
Adalbert Ricken (1851–1921) was a German Franciscan friar and mycologist known for his contributions to fungal classification in Central Europe. His major work, Die Blätterpilze Deutschlands, remains a key reference in the study of agarics. Ricken’s legacy lies in his rigorous documentation and taxonomic clarity, bridging ecclesiastical discipline with scientific inquiry.
