117 Stephanus Blankaart (1650–1704) – Tab. II (Anatomical Figure, Posterior View) – Copperplate Engraving – Late 17th Century

This anatomical copperplate engraving, marked TAB. II, presents a full-length posterior view of a male figure with muscle structures and reference letters for explanatory text. The right arm is shown in partial dissection, revealing the muscular system, while the rest of the body remains externally intact. A separate study of the hand and foot appears in the lower left. The plate originates from Stephanus Blankaart’s influential anatomical publications, which played a vital role in Dutch medical education at the end of the 17th century. Rendered with clarity and proportional precision, the image exemplifies the transition from decorative anatomical figures to more empirical medical illustration.
