This original copperplate engraving features three detailed depictions of eagles along with an unfinished outline sketch intended for instructional or preparatory purposes. The upper register shows a pair of raptors in profile and three-quarter view, while the lower portion includes a frontal eagle with fully rendered plumage, alongside a ghosted contour drawing. The work reflects the 17th-century scientific and artistic interest in avian anatomy and the symbolism of majestic birds like eagles.

Frederic de Wit, a renowned Dutch publisher active during the Dutch Golden Age, issued not only celebrated maps and atlases but also zoological and anatomical engravings that supported scientific education and naturalistic inquiry. His prints are characterized by their meticulous line work and dedication to empirical detail.
