This historical engraving depicts the surprise seizure of Breda on 18 June 1581 by Spanish Malcontent forces led by Claude de Berlaymont, Lord of Haultepenne. The composition captures the violent storming of the fortress and surrounding streets. A Latin inscription below the scene provides historical context. The print is plate 124 from the series Les Guerres de Nassau.
