This architectural engraving shows the Stockholm palace of Count Carl Piper, prominent Swedish nobleman and advisor to King Charles XII. The view captures the elegant Baroque façade of the palace facing the waterfront, with an animated port scene showing ships, carriages, and bustling figures. In the background, other recognizable landmarks of Stockholm are labeled, including churches and royal buildings. The engraving is part of Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna, a monumental work illustrating Sweden’s most important buildings and cities.

Erik Dahlbergh (1625–1703) was a Swedish military engineer, architect, and draftsman, best known for directing the monumental topographical publication Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna. Modeled after the works of Matthäus Merian and other European engravers, his engravings played a central role in shaping the visual identity of the Swedish Empire in the 17th century.
