This set of two original hand-coloured engravings features Crataegus Torminalis (Wild Service Tree) and Rubus Caesius (Dew-berry). These prints are from James Sowerby’s acclaimed botanical series English Botany or, Coloured Figures of British Plants, with their Essential Characters, Synonyms and Places of Growth, published by J. Davis in London between 1790 and 1814. This first edition series is renowned for its meticulous scientific accuracy and fine artistic detail, documenting British flora with clarity and elegance.
