62 Giacomo Lauro (active 1584–1645) – Templum Solis in Monte Quirinali – Engraved Reconstruction from Antiquae Urbis Splendor (1641)

 This engraving titled "Templum Solis in Monte Quirinali" offers an architectural reconstruction of the Temple of the Sun, which, according to ancient sources, was built by Emperor Aurelian on the Quirinal Hill in Rome. The structure is depicted with grand classical symmetry: a monumental colonnaded portico with twelve Corinthian columns, twin domed towers, and a richly decorated pediment featuring solar iconography. An extended Latin inscription below recounts the temple’s historical and symbolic importance, referencing solar worship, the zodiac, and imperial cult practices.
