This nautical and urban map titled Plan de la Ville et de la Rade de Copenhague provides a detailed depiction of the city of Copenhagen and its surrounding harbor. The engraving outlines fortifications, street plans, the Citadel, nearby districts such as Frederiksberg, and the island of Amager (Île d'Amack). The port is meticulously charted with depth soundings, navigational lines, and references to the Grande Passe, Middel Grund, and anchor points. Produced during the early 19th century, the map reflects both military and maritime strategic interests. The work was engraved and signed by Ambroise Tardieu, one of France’s leading cartographers of the time.

Ambroise Tardieu (1788–1841) was a noted French geographer and engraver, known for his detailed maps and contributions to scientific cartography. He collaborated with many of the leading scientists and publishers of his era and was especially influential in the popularization of geographic knowledge in post-Revolutionary France.
